Experience and Dedication: I’m a friendly person who enjoys tutoring, finding it highly rewarding because I love working with kids. My teaching approach is student-driven, centred around asking questions and using sample or past paper questions to guide lessons. I focus on keeping students engaged and tailoring lessons to meet their specific needs. As a visual learner, I incorporate diagrams, flow charts, mind maps, and images, and I use a whiteboard with screen sharing to explain concepts using different coloured pens for clarity and engagement.
Experience and Dedication: I focus on cultivating students' cultural understanding, helping them immerse in Chinese culture through stories, songs, and games. I believe that interesting and creative course designs can effectively stimulate students' learning interest and potential.
Experience and Dedication: For the first few lessons, I will take a look at the student's past test papers to gauge the student’s current ability. I will try to identify if the student has troubles with content or answering technique (or both).
For subsequent lessons, I will try to tackle the student’s weakness. For content, I will highlight the areas that are commonly tested for each topic. For answering technique, I will go through a standard answering structure that the student can apply to make sure he or she answers the question directly. When attempting long structured questions, I will guide them on how to read the question critically and summarise the key points. Due to the large amount of text given, most students often do not have the patience for it and struggle with these questions.
I do not provide answers to the student immediately. I like to prompt and guide them by giving the student hints so that he or she can think independently. This helps to stimulate them on critical thinking which is an essential skill for University and real-life world.
I believe in quality and not quantity so I tend to take on a maximum of 3 students at a time to make sure that I have plenty of time for them. I am also willing to teach the student for long-term till he or she completes O/N levels.
