Experience and Dedication: 1.Primary 6 girl was weak at vocabulary and comprehension, as well as editing, I handheld her with each component, followed by past year papers, to get her used to the format. New words encountered were jotted in a word bank and practice done to construct sentences with them. She struggled with composition, I provided various topics and let her practice, marking the work along the way and helped her refine her compositions. The student was a Chinese PRC, I am effectively bilingual, I could communicate effectively with her to ease her burden. Homework was given on a regular basis to allow students to venture out on her own and practice. Student improved by five marks in composition writing in one month. 2. Teaching the Secondary 1 student was similar. We also did a “mistakes booklet” to jot down the commonly made mistakes she committed in writing. She mentioned she was the only girl to jump by 5 marks in her class. Her teacher was surprised at the sudden use of words like “jubilant” , “exhilarated”, etc in her compositions. Homework was given on a regular basis to allow students to venture out on her own and practice. 3. Teaching the Secondary 4 student was similar. Teaching the Secondary 4 N level boy required more patience as he was easily distracted. The approach was similar except lessons were conducted at a slower pace. Parents gave feedback that the boy, AJ, improved in terms of sentence structure as well as vocabulary when speaking at home. 4. Full time tutor at Agrader Bukit Gombak, I taught Pri 1-2, Pri 5. Experiences entail preparing for lessons, setting up the smartboard, delivery of pedagogy and tutelage, preserving order in the classroom, marking papers afterwards. Feedback from the centre management entailed me being a fabulous teacher. 5. Full time tutor at Agrader Serangoon, I taught Pri 4. Finally, playing piquing interest in the subject by playing Boggle, crossword puzzles with students. 8. Taught a Primary 3 student at Fernvale English, student was distracted easily, and often made careless mistakes. Improved slightly after all-rounded exercises were administered, this encompasses compositions, past year papers, assessment books for theory, making word bank and mistakes sheets compulsory. 9. Taught a K1 student EMC, near Pei Hwa Secondary. She was focused, and interested in my pedagogy and tutelage, all-rounded assessment was provided, this entailed assessment books for all three subjects. 10. Taught a Pri 4 student English, mother’s name was Ms Mabel, student was very careless with past year papers. Pedagogy entailed compositions with model answers, theory through assessment books, past year papers, word banks and mistakes sheets made mandatory. 11. Stalford Learning Centre- Notes preparation for Economics subject. 12. The Light at Cairnhill- Client’s name was Ms Melissa, student was in Primary 3, client needed assistance in compositions, assessment books were bought, and pedagogy was delivered. Model compositions were administrated in an easy-to-digest format. The child had many content ideas, but his vocabulary just needed some improvement, so I bought him a dictionary and helped him learn synonyms too. 13. Primary 6 student in Potong Pasir was taught, client needed assistance in compositions, assessment books were bought, and pedagogy was delivered.
